Field Guide

Learn what spotted lanternflies look like, why they matter, and how to hunt responsibly.

🪲

Why spotted lanternflies matter

Spotted lanternflies are invasive planthoppers that feed on many plants. Large populations can stress plants and create sticky honeydew that promotes sooty mold. This section is a starter placeholder; before public launch we should source the final guidance directly from USDA and your state agriculture agencies.

Know the life stages

Early nymphSmall, wingless, mostly black with bright white spots.
🔴
Late nymphRed-and-black body with white spots; larger than early nymphs.
🪲

🪵
Egg massRows of eggs often covered by a gray, mud-like protective coating.

Responsible hunting

Keep the game safe.
Do not trespass, enter roads, climb unsafe structures, damage plants, or use pesticides outside their labeled directions just to score points. Evidence should be collected from a safe location.
